I
became inspired to do makeup a few years ago, when I was on a photo
shoot as a model. I sat in the makeup artist's chair, watching her
put together color palettes and play with all these glamorous products,
and suddenly I wanted to be in her shoes. Makeup artists are like
magicians; they can turn the ordinary into pretty and the pretty
into beautiful — or the other way around! The transformation
power of makeup intrigued me and I began to study the craft by carefully
watching all the artists I worked with, taking note of the items
they used or the way they applied color. But the best thing about
makeup is that you can develop your own style and find your own
niche.
I believe makeup should be fun and experimental,
sexy and sometimes messy, and there is no right or wrong way of
doing it. An artist's greatest strength is her ability to create
a hair and makeup concept that will come to life through photography.
Technical skill can be learned, but having the creative vision to
bring it all together is something you just know.
I find makeup to be very rewarding, both personally
and visually. I love seeing my clients' reactions when they look
in the mirror. It's one of those little pleasures in life when you've
realized that you've made someone feel more confident and beautiful
with the swipe of a brush.
